ab-solutes: extracts (2022)

Four-piece found object sculptural installation drawing from hydrocarbon pollution featured in the Ab-Solutes: Lake Erie photographic series.

Each of the two larger formations (correspond to one of the piles of smaller fragments. The weight of each pile is exactly the same as its corresponding singular formation.

The work aims to address to the idea of the irreducibility of matter: the notion that - like energy - matter cannot be destroyed. The materialities we leave behind merely change form, disperse, and/or shift in location.
