vessels: between teeth (2016 / 2018)

Photographs of clay/ceramic mariners’ pipes recovered from the seafloor beneath the shipping lanes of Halifax Harbour (Nova Scotia) by local citizen historians and divers.

An archive and typology of everyday artifacts related to seafaring culture which ruminates on the ways time and human action are inscribed onto the surfaces of such objects, acting as a kind of “material memory” connecting bodies both past and present (Dimensions: 24x36 inches. Framed archival inkjet prints).
